Mind & Motion

I heard this great interview today with Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. The dialogue was on mindfulness through awareness of the present moment (which is truly all we have). Research is now showing that our brain can actually change shape depending on our thoughts and actions. (If only the brain was superficial- Then we might be concerned with the thickness of our cortex.)

I believe pilates is great context to explore mindfulness. Most of the time the session consists of you sensing and thinking about your body as each moment comes… and listening to my cues, which are aimed to keep you in the present moment. This experience can be considered a moving meditation.
